Formed in Stafford in by Colin Cooper, the band (originally known as the Climax Chicago Blues Band) released their sixth studio album with a lineup of Colin Cooper (vocals, saxophones, harmonica), Pete Haycock (guitar, vocals), Derek Holt (bass, guitar, vocals) and John Cuffley (drums)/5(26).

3. new direction is the choir but for a debut album this cd is ok. its not the best but it is ok. some songs like lighthouse, who do you roll with, new direction and worship chirst are good. but the rest of the songs are weak. well i forgot one dance and satified are good to/5(11).

This band doesn't seem to get any respect from the record companies and obviously there are legal issues, otherwise it wouldn't have been given so many bowdlerized versions of SENSE OF DIRECTION, an oxymoronic title if there ever was one. The music, finally, is given it's proper due and no chopping of the title track is evident/5(26).

9. What amazes me listening again to this album after a gap of 30 years is just how good it was. Songs range from the get down funkiness of the opener Amerita to a very soft, English song in Sense of Direction. A blues stomper and the some super understated slide on the social conscious number, Shopping Bag People/5(18).
